Clark Invited To USA Softball World University Selection Camp

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State softball All-America shortstop Christina Clark (Santa Ana, Calif.) will look to continue her play on the diamond but this time as part of the U.S. Women's National Team.
Clark was one of 13 additional invitees to attend the USA Softball's 2006 World University Selection Camp, which will be held June 9-11 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
With 34 players in camp, 18 will be selected to represent the United States at the World University Games in Taiwan, July 15-23.
Earlier this month, USA Softball announced its initial list of athletes who were invited to the 2006 USA Softball Women's National Team camp and it included two former Bulldogs in three-time Olympic gold medalist Laura Berg and All-American Jamie Southern.
The World University Games selection camp will precede the Women's National Team Camp, which will be held June 13-17.
The Women's National Team will represent the United States at three events this year.
As the only National Team event to be held on American soil this year, the II World Cup of Softball will be showcased in Oklahoma City, July 13-17, and will be broadcasted by ESPN.
The USA Softball Women's National Team will also compete at the ISF Women's World Championship in Beijing, China (Aug. 21-Sept. 7) and the Japan Cup in Yokohama, Japan (Nov. 13-20).
At World's, the United States will look to capture it sixth consecutive World Championship gold medal as well as secure a berth in the 2008 Olympic Games.
SPECIAL NOTE: Berg along with former Bulldog All-American Amanda Scott will be honored on Mon., June 5, 6:00 p.m. (CDT), at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla., as members of the NCAA Division I Women's Softball 25th Anniversary Team.
