Men's Basketball Begins Road Trip at Hawaii

Up Next For The Bulldogs: Fresno State hits the road for the first time during Western Athletic Conference play when it travels to Hawaii on Thursday, January 11, with game time at 9 p.m. (PST). The Bulldogs then fly back right after the game into San Jose and prepare to face the Spartans at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 13. The Fresno State-Hawaii game can be seen on KFRE CW59 (Comcast channel 5) at 9 p.m. (PST) on Thursday night.
Hawaii Game to air on KFRE CW59: The Fresno State men's basketball game versus Hawaii will be airing at 9 p.m. on KFRE CW59, Thursday, January 11, but due to technical difficulties, the game will feature a Hawaii broadcast team of Jim Leahey as the play-by-play announcer and Artie Wilson as the analyst from the local My Network TV station KFVE. With the loss of a true Bulldog Sports Network television game at Hawaii, BSN can now broadcast an additional road WAC game, which will be February 3, when Fresno State plays at Idaho at 7 p.m. That gives Fresno State fans a chance to watch seven out of the Bulldogs' eight road games.
Hittin' the Road: Fresno State begins its hardest road trip of the season beginning Thursday night at Hawaii. The Bulldogs will take a red-eye back to the Bay Area after Thursday night's game in preparation of Saturday's 3 p.m. game time against San Jose State. Following Saturday's game, Fresno State will travel to Reno, Nev. on Tuesday night to face the No. 15 ranked Wolf Pack on Thursday at 7 p.m. Fresno State went 2-1 on a three-game road trip earlier this season.
Who's Hot: Fresno State junior point guard Kevin Bell led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record last week, averaging 14.5 points and six assists per game. Bell recorded 12 assists to only two turnovers, averaging 34 minutes a game. Against Idaho to start the week off, Bell scored a team-high 14 points and added five assists. Against Utah State, Bell matched a career-high with 15 points, including two 3-pointers and seven assists in 38 minutes.
Bulldogs Receive Vote in ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll: Fresno State received one vote in this week's EPSN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The ESPN/USA Today Board of Coaches is made up of 31 head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The Bulldogs were behind New Mexico State of the WAC, who received two votes in the poll. The lone vote this week marks the second time Fresno State has received votes in the national rankings this year. Earlier this season, Fresno State received four votes in the Associated Press Poll.
Ranking Among the Top: Fresno State as a team is ranked highly throughout the latest issue of NCAA National Rankings. The Bulldogs also have several players who are ranked among the elite as well. Here is a list of individual and team rankings for Fresno State. There are currently 336 schools that participate at the Division I level.

About the Rainbow Warriors : Hawaii comes into the week with a 9-6 overall record and a 0-2 Western Athletic Conference mark. The Rainbow Warriors lost their first two WAC games on the road last week at New Mexico State on Thursday and at Louisiana Tech on Saturday. Hawaii led at halftime in both of those games, but could not hold the lead down the stretch. On the season, senior Matt Lojeski leads the team with 17.9 points per game to go along with 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. As a team the Rainbow Warriors are averaging 73.4 points per game, which ranks fifth, and are giving up 68.7 points, which also ranks fifth. Senior Ahmet Gueye is averaging 11.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and Bobby Nash, associate coach Bob Nash's son, is averaging 10.6 and 4.4 rebounds per game.
About the Spartans : San Jose State comes into the week with a 1-13 overall record and a 0-2 WAC mark. The Spartans are coming off losses at Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State. The Spartans played the Aggies tough in their last game, falling 74-68 in Las Cruces, N.M. San Jose State will face No. 15 Nevada on Thursday, January 11, before hosting Fresno State. The Spartans are led by Menelik Barbary, who is averaging 10.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Carlton Spencer is averaging 20.0 points per game after two conference games and has only played in four contests this season. As a team San Jose State is averaging 63.0 points per game, while allowing 77.1.
The Last Time Out: Fresno State is coming off a 79-70 victory over Utah State on Saturday, improving its overall record to 13-2 and its WAC record to 2-0. Fresno State was led offensively by Dominic McGuire, who recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Bell paced the offense with 15 points and seven assists and Quinton Hosley added 15 points and six rebounds. Ja'Vance Coleman returned to the starting lineup and scored 16 points, including three 3-pointers.
