Brown Nets Career High Against TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fresno State women's basketball team got a strong offensive effort from LaToya Brown but the Bulldogs still lost 75-63 to TCU on Wednesday night in Fort Worth, Texas. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-4 while TCU improved to 3-3.
Brown scored a career high 14 points on four of six shooting while Tierre Wilson had 13 points. Wilson and Erica Henry led Fresno State in rebounding with six.
"I thought we had improved play from Erica Henry LaToya Brown and Jen Leaks," assistant coach Brett Frank said. "Those two really stepped up for us tonight"
As a team the Bulldogs shot 43 percent from the field and held TCU to 39 percent shooting. Fresno State was out rebounded 50-35.
"We just have to take each game as a learning experience," Frank said. "Tonight we had a lot of intensity towards the end of the game. We are not going to be a real solid team until we learn to out rebound other teams.
The Bulldogs only lead of the game was an early 3-2 lead two minutes into the game. TCU then jumped out to a 15-8 lead at the 14:31 mark of the half. Brown then hit a 3-pointer and Wilson followed with a lay up to cut the Lady Frogs lead to 15-13 with 12:24 left until halftime.
Fresno State trailed 25-20 with 6:55 to play in the first half when TCU went on a 12-2 run to lead 37-22 with 1:32 left. The Dogs trailed 41-27 at halftime.
The Lady Frogs led by as many as 25 points in the second half and Fresno State got no closer than 12.
Adrianne Ross led TCU with 23 points.
Fresno State played without head coach Adrian Wiggins who remained in Fresno to attend to university business. Frank served as the acting head coach for Wednesday's game.
Fresno State returns to the floor on Saturday to host the University of Utah at 1 p.m. at the Save Mart Center. Saturday's game can be heard live on 1430 ESPN Radio and seen on Comcast Cable channel 14.
