FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team finished the regular season in an impressive manner as the Bulldogs beat Nevada 3-1 Sunday afternoon. The win ups Fresno State's record to 11-6-1 going into next week's WAC tournament.
The Bulldogs were out shot 11-9 for the game but they connected on the opportunities when they had them.
Amanda Reyes gave Fresno State a 1-0 lead at halftime off an assist from Andrea Alires. Goalkeeper Kaity Revel came up with an impressive save by blocking a shot at the top of the box to maintain the Bulldog lead going into the half.
"Kaity played really well today," Fresno State coach Steve Springthorpe said. "She had great distribution, got an assist and set up our third goal. She was very good."
Andrea Salvador put the Bulldogs on top 2-0 in the 70th minute when she took a punt from Revel and slipped the ball past the Nevada keeper. A little over a minute later, another punt by Revel set up Salvador for what looked to be her second goal of the game but a red card was called on the Wolf Pack keeper, allowing Chelsea Davis to score on the penalty kick.
Nevada scored its goal off a corner kick in the 88th minute.
Fresno State travels to Boise, Idaho next week for the WAC tournament.
