Dogs Perform Well But Aggies Prevail

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State dropped a pair of dual matches on Sunday, losing to perennial national power Texas A&M 13-6 and New Mexico State 11-9 win what was described as a good day of competition by head coach Becky Malmo.
After Saturday's Western competition, the Dogs trailed Texas A&M by seven points, and New Mexico State by four. The Dogs and TAMU tied in Sunday's English competition, each school winning five matches, while the Dogs edged New Mexico State 5-4.
`I was very pleased with today's performance," said Malmo. "We came out with great confidence and rode very well and made some headway against both teams. I was very pleased with the way we competed today. We knew it would be tough to come back from such a big deficit, but we really came back strong, which was good to see."
Sunday's top performers for Fresno State included Katie Nenneker, who scored an 80 on Olive Oil, in Equitation over Fences, winning her matches against both teams. Lisa Well scored a 75.4 on Big Money to led the dogs in Equitation over the Flat. Well had a 77 on Maranello, recording the second-best score by the Dogs in Fences. Morgan McDonald and Cambria Kissell each won matches against New Mexico State in Fences, as the Dogs took four of five matches.
The Bulldogs will hold a Blue vs. Red Scrimmage on Friday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Student Horse Center. Admission is free.
