FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State (6-10) Bulldogs late four run rally in top of the fifth inning sealed the victory against the No. 16 San Diego (11-7) Toreros Friday night by a score of 12-4. Junior right fielder Ozzie Lewis started the back-to-back run scoring innings with a two run home run in the bottom of the fourth to get the Bulldogs on the board but trailing 4-2.
San Diego did grab the first lead of the night and score the first four runs in the game but it was the Bulldog's offensive bats that came through in the clutch. In one of their better performances of the year Fresno State connected on 13 hits in 36 at bats.
With two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning the first base runner Erik Wetzel made it first base on a single through the right side. In the next at bat veteran leader Loren Storey singled to left field advancing Wetzel to second base and to load the bases Todd Sandell walked. In a bat when the Bulldogs needed it the most Steve Susdorf singled up the middle and scored three RBI's in Fresno State's favor. The Bulldogs took a 6-4 lead and did not look back.
To provide insurance runs the Bulldogs added six runs on six hits in bottom of the eighth inning. With four singles and one double Fresno State made it all the way through the batting order with Susdorf hitting first and last. Storey and Brian Lapin recorded doubles in the inning.

Brandon Miller saw one and one-third innings of action and allowed one hit. Holden Sprague came in to tie the knot in the top of the ninth to get the Bulldogs out of the jam allowing no hits and no runs.
Sophomore left-hander starting pitcher, Brian Matusz (3-0, 1.71) was named the National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball as well as the WCC Pitcher of the Week. The Bulldogs grabbed six runs and seven hits off him tonight.
On the offensive side designated hitter Steve Susdorf went 4-for-5 with four singles and Lewis went 3-for-4 with one home run and three singles. Both Susdorf and Lewis tallied four RBI's.
