FRESNO, Calif. - - The Fresno State men's B team is in fifth place out of a 12-team field at the CSUB/ Elco, Inc. Intercollegiate. Cal State San Bernadino (282-288 - 570) is in the top spot after 36-holes with 6-under at the Bakersfield Country Club. UCLA (573) is in second followed by the host Cal State Bakersfield (575) and Point Loma Nazarene who are tied for third.
Grant Doverspike (71-72 - 143) leads Fresno State posting 1-under on the day to tie for sixth. Gunnar Avinelis (74-72 - 146) shot 2-over to tie for 18th. Todd Angel (79-68 - 147) tied for 20th followed by Mark Pryor (76-74 - 150) who tied for 28th place.
PLNU sophomore Sam Cyr sizzled Monday, firing rounds of 68 and 67 -- the two lowest rounds of the day -- to take a commanding five-stroke lead at nine-under 135. San Bernardino's Micah Burke and the UCLA tandem of Charlie Harris and Jason Kang share second place at four-under.
The final round will conclude Tuesday.
