Nevada Avoids Elimination, Beats Louisiana Tech

Fresno, Calif. - The Nevada Wolf Pack avoided elimination Thursday night, sending Louisiana Tech home instead with a 3-2 victory on the second day of the WAC Softball Tournament at Bulldog Diamond in Fresno.
Nevada will face the winner of the late game on Thursday night, between San Jose State and New Mexico State on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Louisiana Tech went 1-2 in the tournament, beating Utah State and losing to Hawaii and Nevada.
Nevada jumped on the board first with three runs in the top of the second inning. Louisiana Tech answered with one run in the bottom half to cut the lead to 3-1. The score stood that way until Louisiana Tech scored one run in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2.
Nevada was led by Katie Stith, who had the big three-run home run in the second inning that stood up for the entire game.
Katie Holverson came in and picked up the victory in relief for the Wolf Pack.
Louisiana Tech was led by Emma Barnes and Ashley Cameron, who each recorded two hits in the loss. Barnes and Carly White each had an RBI.
