FRESNO, Calif. - After individual draft workouts, Orlando pre-draft workouts and a full year of basketball, there is still a need for three former Bulldogs to showcase their talent and hope to land a spot on an NBA roster at the Summer League in Las Vegas.
Former men's basketball standouts Dominic McGuire, Quinton Hosley and Noel Felix are all trying to make a final impression over the next five days in Las Vegas, as they try and earn a spot on an NBA roster.
McGuire, the Washington Wizards second round draft pick just two weeks ago, is a strong lock to make the squad. But former Bulldogs Hosley and Felix will need to show what they can do in only five summer league games at the Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus.
Hosley is playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves summer league team and Felix is on the Milwaukee Bucks squad. Felix has spent time in the NBA in the past with the Seattle Sonics.
McGuire got off to a strong start on Tuesday afternoon. In his first professional game, McGuire recorded 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting from the field. He also added seven rebounds and recorded two steals in 24 minutes of action.
Felix and the Bucks have also played one game, with Felix getting the start, playing 24 minutes. Felix recorded two points, four rebounds and two blocked shots.
Hosley and the Timberwolves have also played one game in Las Vegas. Hosley didn't receive any playing time in the first game, as the Timberwolves only played nine players.
All three players face a busy week ahead of them as they will play four games over the next five days. You can follow the action live on NBA TV and online at www.nba.com.
