Bulldogs Battle LMU

FRESNO, Calif. - After a scoreless first half, the Fresno State women's soccer team dropped a Sunday afternoon contest to Loyola Marymount, 2-0. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 3-4 while LMU improved to 4-3-1.
Fresno State out shot the Lions 6-4 in the first half but for the game got out shot 12-11. Ali Sill, Nicole Gutierrez and Lauren Satterlee each had two shot attempts.
The Bulldogs best opportunity to score in the first half came when a header by Nicole Gutierrez off a free kick bounced off the cross bar in the 10th minute.
In the 57th minute Fresno State nearly took the lead on a Satterlee free kick but LMU goalie Joslyn Slovek got a hand on it to tip it over the cross bar.
Five minutes later LMU scored its first goal of the game and then they added another one in the 85th minute to up the lead to 2-0.
The Bulldogs return to the friendly confines of Bulldog Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. when they play host to Conference USA foe UTEP.
