FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's basketball team released its schedule for the 2007-08 season on Wednesday night and for the second straight year, the Bulldogs will host a tournament at the Save Mart Center to kick things off.
The Bulldogs carry a challenging non-conference schedule, which will kick off November 9 in the Save Mart Center against Portland during the Pape Slam. Liberty and former WAC rival San Diego State join the opening tournament, which will run through November 11.
Fresno State will face tough road games during the non-conference schedule, which includes games at UNLV, Arizona and Stanford.
"I'm very excited about our schedule to open the year," Head Coach Steve Cleveland said. "I think the early non-conference road games will be a good test for our team heading into WAC play."
The Bulldogs begin WAC play on Thursday, January 3 on the road against Louisiana Tech, followed by a road game at New Mexico State.
Before Fresno State begins its home WAC schedule, it will face Saint Mary's on Tuesday, January 8. The Bulldogs host Idaho on Saturday, January 12 in their first home conference game.
"I think the conference will be competitive this season from top to bottom," Cleveland said. "We are looking forward to taking the court and can't wait to start another exciting season."
The Bulldogs have once again been selected to participate in ESPN Bracketbuster, and will again host the game at the Save Mart Center on Saturday, February 23.
Fresno State concludes the regular season against Nevada at home Saturday, March 8. The 2008 WAC Tournament will be held in Las Cruces, N.M. for the second consecutive year, beginning March 11, with the championship game being held March 15.
Prior to the regular season opener, the Bulldogs will play two exhibition games. The first game will be against Western Washington on Sunday, November 4 at 4 p.m. The second exhibition game will be Tuesday, November 6 against Fresno Pacific at 8:30 p.m.
