MANHATTAN, Kans. - After the biggest comeback in school history on Friday since 30-point scoring began, the Fresno State volleyball team fell in the opening match of day two at the Kansas State Invitational to the No. 22 host Wildcats, 3-0, in Manhattan, Kans. The game scores were 30-9, 30-19 and 30-17.
Game one was all the Wildcats as they hit their highest single-game percentage of the season at .679. They were led by Rita Liliom who had five kills on all five attempts. Lacey Gera led the Bulldogs with three kills.
Lauren Rosenthal for the Wildcats started game two serving five-straight points for the early lead. Fresno State kept fighting back and had mini-runs with Meghan Moss and Lisa Gera serving and four kills by Alisha McKee, but weren't able to get closer than eight points late in the game.
Fresno State got within five at 14-9 but then the Wildcats went on a 3-0 run and the Bulldogs were not able to catch up in game three. Angela Wiggins had four of her team-high 10 digs in game three.
The Bulldogs hit their highest percentage of the match in game two (.105) and were led by Lacey Gera for the second-straight match with a .200 hitting percentage.
Fresno State plays Northern Iowa (4-5) in the final match of the tournament (Sat., Sept. 8) at 6 p.m. ct. Northern Iowa is 1-1 on the weekend, falling 3-0 to Kansas State on day one and sweeping Arkansas in the first match of day two.
With the win over Fresno State, the Wildcats swept their own tournament to take the title. The all-tournament team will be announced after the Fresno State vs. Northern Iowa match.

The next Fresno State Volleyball match at home is Tuesday, September 11 on Proud to be an American Night against Oregon State at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center. All military, fire and police department employees get two free tickets by showing their badge/ID at the box office on the day of the game.
