`Dogs Host Nevada in Big Matchup

FRESNO, Calif. - As part of the 2008 Fresno State homecoming week, the Bulldogs will take the volleyball court on Saturday at 2 p.m. to host Nevada in a WAC match. Fans can get in free by showing their Bulldog football tickets vs. Idaho that night and are also encouraged to bring can food items to the Save Mart Center for the annual food drive.
Fresno State is 5-10 overall while Nevada is 7-9. The two are tied in the WAC standings at 2-4. Fresno State leads the overall series 17-14 with Nevada winning the last five. The last match between the two was exactly a year from Saturday with Nevada earning the sweep.
This will be the first of two-straight matches between the Bulldogs and the WolfPack as they meet in Reno on Oct. 16.
Head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell and assistant coach Alanna Jackson both played under Nevada head coach Devin Scruggs in the late 1990's. Jackson also coached under Scruggs last season.
"I think it's going to be an exciting match," said Jackson. "I think both sides are going to come out play good defensive, play hard, have some long rally's and hopefully we will come out on top."
