FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State begins the season Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 on the campus of UC Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, Calif., meeting with both UC Santa Cruz and San Jose State at 12 p.m.
UC Santa Cruz, part of the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference, will host Fresno State and San Jose State together for its second home meet of the 2008 season. Both meets will be held at the east fieldhouse swimming pool, home pool of UC Santa Cruz.
Fresno State will face San Jose two times in the regular season, and at the WAC Championships Feb. 25-28, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. Meets between WAC schools other than those at the WAC Championships will only count toward each school's season record and a regular season WAC champion is not crowned.
Swimming and Diving Returns To Fresno State
The return of swimming and diving comes after a four-year absence of the program at the university. The 2003-04 season, the most recent year of Fresno State swimming and diving, was the final year of the program before it was cut at Fresno State. It was brought back on Jan. 7, 2007 and added along with women's lacrosse as announced by Athletics Director Thomas Boeh.
