FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State soccer defeated Boise State, 1-0, Friday night. Alex Jensen scored the go ahead goal for the Bulldogs. The `Dogs are now 3-1-1 in conference play and 7-8-2 overall.

"We are excited about the win," said coach Steve Springthorpe. "We grinded out another conference win. It gets us a few more points and closer to the WAC Tournament."

Boise State pressured the Bulldog defense right away. The Broncos got several corner kicks and shots off in the first 20 minutes of play.

"Boise State did a great job of coming out and pressuring us right away," said Springthorpe. "We struggled in the beginning, then we came together and had good possession of the ball."

A majority of play occurred in the midfield as each team battled for possession of the ball and creating attacks.

At the half both teams were scoreless.

In the 67th minute Jensen was able to knock in the game winning goal passed goalie Jennifer Burns. Ali Sill set up Jensen recording her 23rd career assist and fifth of the season. Jensen took one touch to beat a Bronco defender and then knocked the ball into the upper left corner from 15 yards out.

"Ali Sill set up her up well and Alex (Jensen) was able to hammer it home," said Springthorpe.

Kaitlyn Revel had a big save right after the goal. She had six saves against Boise State. Revel and the Bulldog defense recorded their eighth shutout of the year.

"Kaitlyn also had a big game for us. She played well and had a huge save after we scored our goal," said Springthorpe.

The Bulldogs host Idaho on Sunday Oct. 26 at 12 pm in Bulldog stadium. An autograph session with the players will follow the game.
