'Dogs Shine on Day One of Cougar Invitational

Freshmen Dede Torres (Fresno, Calif.,) as well as Heidi Gjoen (Oslo, Norway) and Jordan Morillo (Lindsay, Calif.,) earned career bests the first day of the Washington State Invitational held in Pullman, Wash. Friday night.
"We had a great night with a lot of improvement," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "We swam so much better."
Torres earned a personal best, improving from her first collegiate time in the 50 freestyle, to finishing tonight's event in 25.55.
Continuing personal bests was Gjoen, who proved her continuing strength in backstroke finishing 59.11 in her lead off in the 400 medley relay. The team went on to finish mid-fleet in the event.
"Everyone did really well," said Fleck. "Jordan also earned a personal best in the 100 breaststroke."
Morillo personally excelled in the event, finishing 1:11.07. She again was one of three freshmen to earn a lifetime best in respective collegiate events.

"Join the State - Fresno State" - The Fresno State swimming team continues action Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Washington State Invitational. The diving team competes next at San Diego State on Nov. 1.
