The `Dogs concluded day two of the Debbie Pipher Invitational Saturday afternoon in Pullman, Wash., being led by freshmen Jordan Morillo (Lindsay, Calif.) and Heidi Gjoen (Oslo, Norway.)
"It was tough to bounce back today after yesterday," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "We aren't used to competing two days in a row. We improved after the first event today and continued from there."
Excelling in the 200 breaststroke and the 200 butterfly, Morillo once again proved her personal strengths against a tough group of competition.
"Morillo was really the swimmer on top today," said Fleck.
Gjoen, whose best strengths are in backstroke, made strides in the 500 freestyle event for the Bulldogs, while improving personally. Gjoen also placed third in the 100 backstroke event.
"They were a little bit tired but it was a good test for them and a great learning experience for the athletes," said Fleck.
Fresno State finished mid-fleet in the 200 medley relay as well as in 200 yard IM by junior Mary Tess Taylor.
