Swimming and Diving Will Head South To Face Aztecs Saturday
Divers, who went idle last week, return to the pool along with swimmers Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, in a dual meet at the Aztec Aquaplex on the campus of San Diego State at 12 p.m.
The Aztecs are 2-2 entering this weekend's meet, after hosting a quad meet at home Oct. 25-26, while Fresno State remains 0-2 following the Washington State Invitational this past weekend.
Fresno State's last meeting with San Diego State was in 2003 at home, one year before the dissinegration of the program from the university in 2004.
Swimmers Earn Lifetime Bests And Shine At Cougar Invitational
Three freshmen swimmers, Jordan Morillo, Heidi Gjoen and Dede Torres, showcased improvement on the first day of the Debbie Pipher Memorial Invitational Friday, Oct. 24, at Gibb Pool on the campus of Washington State.
Morillo earned a lifetime best in the 50 freestyle event, shaving her time from 27.26 to a finish of 25.55. She also went on to improve times in the 200 breastroke and 200 butterfly events.
Gjoen, a leader in the backstroke, earned a career best in the 100 backstroke event, dropping her time below one minute finishing in 59.40 and placing third on Saturday. Gjoen also made strides in the 500 freestyle event as well as in her lead off in the 400 medley relay Friday.
