Bulldogs Tie Beavers in Double Overtime

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Fresno State soccer tied the Oregon State Beavers, 1-1, after 110 minutes of play. Allison Ventura scored off a corner kick from Krissy Looney in the final seconds of the game.

"I am pleased with their efforts in tonight's game," said Coach Steve Springthorpe. "They battled hard and did what we needed to do at the end of the game."

The Beavers outshot the Bulldogs in the first half and entered the break tied 0-0. The Beavers came out and scored in the first five minutes of the second half. Najma Homidi scored from the left corner of the penalty box and shot to the right corner of the goal.

The `Dogs hung in and continued to make defensive stops and create opportunities for themselves offensively. They had five shots in the second half and goalie Kaitlyn Revel had four saves.

Fresno State had a corner kick with 25 seconds left on the clock. The Bulldogs put everyone in the box, including Revel. Krissy Looney took the kick and Allison Ventura headed the ball in earning the equalizing goal with two seconds left.

The Bulldogs took control in the first overtime and had some close calls on goal. Laura Dodd had a missed attempt in front of the goal and another Bulldog hit the post.

"I am happy with the effort the team put in," said Springthorpe. "They came out and battled tough on the road and in the rain."

After 110 minutes of play the final score was tied at 1-1.

Fresno State plays their last non-conference against Portland State on Oct. 5 at 11 a.m in Portland.
