FRESNO, Calif. - The men's golf team (280-290-570/-6) is currently in fourth place after two rounds of competition in Reno. The Dogs are only two strokes out of first.
Sophomore Michael Gideon is leading the team and is currently in a tie for sixth place. He shot two solid rounds of golf, compiling scores of 69 and 72, respectively.
In first place is Wichita State's Dustin Garza (67-65-132),shooting 12-under par.
The Bulldogs started the tournament very well. At the conclusion of the first round they were solely in first place shooting eight-under par.
Junior Grant Doverspike shot a first round score of 70 and during the second round shot an even par. Those scores kept him in the race for a top-10 finish, currently tied for 10th.
Junior Todd Angel (70-74-144), shooting an even par, is currently tied for 22nd place. Sophomore, Bryan Hogan (71-74-145), is one-over par and finished the day tied for 29th. Senior Matt Ryan (74-72-146) shot an even second round to finish tied for 35th of 40 individuals.
New Mexico State and Tennessee are currently tied for first place with team scores of 568. Arizona is in third with 569.
The Dogs return back to the green tomorrow at 8:30 a.m PT with a shotgun start and 18 holes to play for the final round.
