`Dogs End Regular Season in Moscow

MOSCOW, Idaho - On senior night in Memorial gym, the host Idaho Vandals proved why they earned the No. 3 seed in next week's WAC Tournament by sweeping the Bulldogs in Moscow, Idaho on Saturday night. Set scores were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-22. The Bulldogs conclude the regular season with a 6-19 overall record and a 3-13 record in WAC play.
Idaho got out to an early 10-1 in set one. Fresno State would show some signs of climbing back into the set by going on mini-runs but Idaho was too much early on and took set one 25-14. Baylee Platt led the `Dogs in set one with four kills and seven digs.
Fresno State took its first lead of the match in set two at 4-3 and would take its largest lead at 11-9 off of a block by Kelly Leonardo and Platt.
The Vandals would re-take the lead at 15-14 and force a Bulldog timeout at 18-15. Idaho would finish the set on a 7-4 run to take set two 25-19 and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set three would also go to the Vandals as they would earn the sweep of the match, 25-22. The Bulldogs fought hard and made some great defensive plays to get back into the set late at 22-22, but the Vandals were able to score three-straight points for the match.
Platt led the `Dogs with a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs. Brianna Clarke led in the kills category with 12 and Meghan Moss had 17 digs.
Fighting Spirit Award
Tonight's `Fighting Spirit Award' winner went to Baylee Platt for the third-straight match.
Up next for Fresno State is the WAC Tournament where the Bulldogs earned the No. 8 seed and will play No. 9 seed Louisiana Tech in the first match in Honolulu, Hawai'i on Thursday. For more information on the complete pairings in the tournament log on to www.gobulldogs.com early next week.
