"Built to Last"
With eight newcomers (six freshman and two junior transfers) and only one senior, fourth-year head coach Steve Cleveland and his distinguished staff turns to the foundation of the team they have built to compete for a Western Athletic Conference Championship and the opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament.
About the Sunbirds
Former Fresno State assistant coach (under Gary Colson) Jim Saia guided Fresno Pacific to a 19-12 record in 2007-08. The Sunbirds are 2-0 this year with wins over Holy Names (77-58) and CSU Maritime (84-54). Key players for Fresno Pacific, who competes in the NAIA, are Todd Brown, Kevin McCaughey, Marcus West (a former Fresno State Bulldog) and Jordan Wild.
About the Warriors
Cal State Stanislaus will turn to the talents of seniors Terry Johnson and Chris Haynes as the Warriors replace all five starters from their 2007-08 campaign when they finished 6-21. Head Coach Keith Larsen enters his sixth year at the helm of the Division II squad from the California Collegiate Athletic Conference.
