FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh announced today a gift commitment in the amount of $2 Million from the Meyers Farms Family Trust. The Meyers commitment will serve as the lead gift for the design and construction of a state-of-the-art Sports Medicine Center that every Bulldog student-athlete will utilize for years to come.
"We are extremely grateful for the friendship, leadership and generosity of Marvin Meyers and his family," Boeh said. "This investment in the future of Fresno State Athletics will serve all Bulldog student-athletes and help our department remain a point of pride for our University and the San Joaquin Valley for years to come."
The facility will be located adjacent to the existing Duncan and Ricchiuti Buildings on the Fresno State campus and will serve as the third of three anchor buildings of what has been termed the "student-athlete village." The Meyers Family Sports Medicine Center will provide adequate space and enhanced equipment for student-athlete examinations and injury preventative measures, as well as the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports related injuries and conditions.
"As a graduate of this university, and a lifelong Bulldog fan and supporter this decision to enhance the experience for every student-athlete came easy for us," said Marvin Meyers, the Chairman of the Meyers Farms Family Trust.
High quality facilities are essential to the recruitment, retention and development of both current and future Bulldog student-athletes. The completion of this construction project will represent a significant enhancement of the Athletics infrastructure. Most importantly, The Meyers Family Sports Medicine Center will have a significant and long-lasting positive effect on the Fresno State "student-athlete experience."
