Bulldogs Finish at USC Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's golf team finished in 14th place at the USC Collegiate Invitational. The field was tough with some of the top ranked schools finishing in the top four spots. The no. 8 ranked Trojans on Golfstat (885) finished the tournament on top by four strokes over no. 10 Tennessee (889). No. 7 Stanford (890) took third place followed by Pepperdine (898) and Cal (899).
The par 71 North Ranch Country Club proved difficult for the `Dogs after struggling through the first and third round. Fresno State finished 934 overall with rounds of 319-299-316.
Todd Angel was the top Fresno State finisher tying for 45th place with 232. Angel finished 19-over par with rounds of 76-77-79. Matt Ryan tied for 56th place with 21-over 234. Ryan and Brad Wyatt both shot a third round score of 78, Wyatt tied for 72 with 237 overall. Michael Gideon tied for 64th place with 237 with rounds of 81-75-81. Dean Tonneslan tied for 75th place with 243.
"Today was an example of when your game is off and the field is strong," said head coach Mike Watney. "We did not play well and now we just have to re-group and try to figure out how to come back for the Classic."
"Join the State - Fresno State!"- The Fresno State men's golf team will be at home March 10-11 at Fort Washington Country Club for the 45th Annual Fresno Lexus Classic.
