Bulldogs Throw in the UCLA Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - Four Fresno State throwers competed in the first day of the UCLA Invitational at Drake Stadium Thursday.
Sharon Ayala had the team's best finish of the day taking eighth in the women's hammer throw, invite division, with a toss of 189-4 (57.72m). Freshman Kayla Xavier threw a 147-8 (45.01m) in the hammer throw's open division.
Both Chris Witscher and Oscar Rodriguez threw in the men's hammer throw invite division. Witscher took seventh with a throw of 182-0 (55.48m) on his first toss of the day. Rodriguez's 172-1 (52.46m) put him in ninth at the meet.
The Bulldogs returned to Fresno Thursday, but will return to Los Angeles Saturday to throw in the shot put.
