Angene Hits Game-Winning Single in Top of Seventh

RUSTON, La. - With her eighth strikeout of the game in the fifth inning, Bulldog freshman pitcher Morgan Melloh became just the sixth Bulldog in school history to record 300 strikeouts in a single season, to rank sixth at Fresno State with strikeouts in a single season.
The No. 12/13 Bulldogs completed the series win with a 1-0 victory over Louisiana Tech Saturday afternoon in Ruston, La. The two teams split the doubleheader yesterday with the Lady Techsters winning game one 5-3 and the Bulldogs taking game two 9-0.
Fresno State improves to 39-8 on the year and 5-3 in the WAC while La. Tech fallst to 24-23 and 4-7 in conference play.
Melloh improved to 28-5 and ended with nine strikeouts. Krissi Oliver falls to 11-11 for La. Tech.
With one out in the top of the seventh, Aja Scheuber would get the Bulldogs fourth hit of the game, a blooper to left field. Michelle Palazuelos would enter to pinch run and she would reach third on a single down the right field line by Andrea Ortega.
Palazuelos would score the only run of the game off a two-out single to right field by Nicole Angene.
Fresno State will conclude WAC road play as they travel to San Jose State for a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 25.
