New Swimming Pool In the Works

Fresno, Calif. - The addition of a swimming and diving team for the 2008-09 season means new facilities are in the works. The 50-meter, eight-lane pool and diving well will sit east of Bulldog Diamond. The pool is projected to be finished for the 2009-10 season.
"It's an exciting time for the program," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "The location is great as it will be around the other facilities and when student-athletes step on campus they will feel like athletics is a big part of their collegiate experience."
An architect has been hired and the design of the pool is currently in the works. For the first season of competition, the Bulldogs will practice at Clovis North High School and will not host any meets.
Fresno State will compete in the WAC with Nevada, Hawai'i, Idaho, San Jose State, New Mexico State and Boise State. Northern Arizona and San Diego also join the WAC for swimming and diving.
