Swimming Signs First Student-Athlete

FRESNO, Calif. - Head swimming and diving coach Jeanne Fleck announced that Clovis East High School graduate Elizabeth Torres has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend school and compete for the Bulldogs in 2008-09.
An All-Conference and All-Valley selection her senior year in the 50 and 100-meters, Torres was a member of the 200-meter freestyle relay team that placed third at the CIF and her team placed second overall. She was also the recipient of the 2008 Clovis East Scholarship for Aquatics.
"Swimming is a big part of the Fresno-Clovis area and I want as many local swimmers as we can get at Fresno State," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "Elizabeth has a ton of talent and if we can tap into it she can be a strong college swimmer."
Torres is the first student-athlete to sign with the team that was added in January after it was dropped after the 2003-04 season.
