FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Cal Poly. Molly Nizzoli scored the Bulldogs lone goal, but it was her second goal of the weekend. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Revel had nine saves.

The Mustangs first goal came in the 12th minute of play. Kristina Condon-Sherwood scored off a cross from Ashley Vallis put Cal Poly ahead 1-0.

"We played better this game, I was encouraged even when we were down," said Coach Steve Springthorpe. "We battled hard and we played harder than the last couple of matches."

The Bulldogs stepped up and continued to take shots at the Mustang goalkeeper Coral Hoover. Hoover had two saves in the match. Fresno State took control of the ball setting up several attempts on goal.

"We haven't been able to do what needs to be done," said Springthorpe. "We need to work on staying focus even after scoring a goal."

The equalizing goal came in the 73rd minute of play when Molly Nizzoli scored off a deflected shot.

"Molly played well, she is playing in different positions and found herself in front of the goal," said Springthorpe. "She scored key goals for us today and Friday night and it was a nice finish."

The Mustangs were able to counter not even a minute a later. Sam Prochnow volleyed the winning goal into the net off a cross from Bria Park.

"We have to learn to be better organized in certain situations and pressure situations," said Springthorpe.

The Bulldogs host Eastern Kentucky on Friday Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium.
