Clarke Leads `Dogs vs. Cal State Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - In the opening round of the Cal State Bakersfield tournament Friday night, the host Roadrunners evened the season series with Fresno State, defeating the `Dogs 3-0 with set scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 29-27. Fresno State is 2-5 on the year.
After CSUB looked strong and took control of the first two sets, the Bulldogs bounced back to take control of set three early. The set then went back-and-forth before Fresno State took the lead at 24-23 for set point before a CSUB block tied the set at 24. A kill by Clarke set up another set point for the `Dogs then CSUB tied it at 25. Fresno State would take the lead at 26-25, then at 27-26. On their first set point at 28-27, CSUB forced an error by the Bulldogs for the 29-27 set win and the match victory.
Brianna Clarke led the `Dogs with 12 kills. Allanah Munson added 35 assists. Fresno State did outblock CSUB four to three.
In tournament play earlier in the day, CSUB and Arizona both defeated Chicago State 3-0.
Fresno State continues play in the CSUB Tournament on Saturday (Sept. 13) by taking on Arizona at noon followed by Chicago State at 4:30 p.m. at the Icardo Center.
