FRESNO, Calif. - In the season opening weekend, head coach Becky Malmo knew her team would be tested. In the opener at Auburn, a team that won the English national title at the 2008 Varsity Equestrian National Championship and finished third in the overall team standings, Fresno State was outmatched dropping a 14-4 meet in Alabama.
"Auburn is a classy team and they showed their talent today," said Malmo. "We knew coming in that this would be a tough weekend, but we battled well and had some young ladies perform at a high level. Jen Jory was simply outstanding today winning MVP honors. We are very happy for her. It won't get any easier because we have the defending national championship Georgia on Sunday. This will make us a better team and that's what we are focusing on."
