Rasmussen Leads Fresno Attack in Exhibition

FRESNO, Calif. - In front of a record crowd in the Save Mart Center Wednesday night, Fresno State fought in an exciting match vs. local NAIA defending champions Fresno Pacific but was defeated by set scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-18.
Tairyn Rasmussen led the team with 11 kills and a .280 hitting percentage. Against her former teammates, Allanah Munson had 17 assists.
"I appreciate that it was a packed house tonight," said head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell. "It made our new configuration look that much better. I'm hoping that this is a learning experience. We keep getting more and more competitive."
Freshmen Sarah Oglesby and Baylee Platt each appeared in their first match of the season. Platt, on her birthday, recorded two kills on four attempts.
"It was good to get in and play with my team," said Platt. "We all stayed together as a team and I think we can take that to Wisconsin and we are giving 110-percent every day. The energy and excitement from the crowd was great tonight."
Fresno State resumes non-conference action as they hit the road for the first time in 2008 to play in the Wisconsin-Green Bay Country Inn and Suites Classic beginning Friday.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State volleyball team hits the road for the Wisconsin-Green Bay tournament in Green Bay, WI September 5-6. The Bulldogs will battle Northern Arizona on Friday, September 5 at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, September 6 the `Dogs face Wisconsin-Green Bay at 9 a.m. and Drake at 3 p.m. The next home match is Saturday, September 27 against San Jose State in the WAC home opener.
