Battle in the Valley
Bulldog aquatics head to the south Valley on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, to face rival Cal State Bakersfield at the Hillman Aquatic Center at 1 p.m. PT.
This weekend's meet will be the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Roadrunners since 2001, when the team faced off for a non-scored exhibiton at home. The battle of the Valley is the closest meet to home for the `Dogs.
"We really encourage everyone to come out and support the team and the program on Saturday," said head coach Jeanne Fleck.
Scouting the Competition
Cal State Bakersfield enters this weekend's meet 1-6, following a fall to WAC powerhouse San Jose State on Jan. 3, while Fresno State is 0-6 after a double dual meet against the Aggies of UC Davis and WAC foe San Jose State on Jan. 10.
The Roadrunner divers claimed two first-place victories at the UCI Diving Invitational Jan. 4 earning a fair finish overall. The `Dogs were impressive against stiff competition at UC Davis, claiming two top three finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter events and reached best marks in both events against host Aggies and San Jose State.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State swimming and diving team brings the action to the Valley Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at Cal State Bakersfield at 1 p.m.
