About the Aggies
Utah State University comes to Fresno at 20-1 on the season and remains the lone undefeated team in WAC play. Utah State sports a 15-game winning streak, which is the longest current streak in the country. The Aggies are led by senior Gary Wilkinson, who averages 16.5 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Utah State was picked to finish second in the WAC in the coaches and media preseason poll. The Aggies are ranked 27th nationally in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and 35th in the Associated Press poll.
Against the Aggies
Fresno State trails the overall series with Utah State, 24-19. The `Dogs have won four of the past seven contests with the Aggies. Fresno State nearly ended Utah State's then 26-game home winning streak before falling 65-61 in Logan back on Jan. 15, 2009.
Coaches Raise Cancer and Exercise Awareness with Sneaker Night
Coaches vs. Cancer "Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend," a collaborative initiative of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the American Cancer Society (the Society), is slated for the weekend of Jan. 30 - Feb. 1, 2009. Participating NABC-member coaches will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their usual game attire during weekend games to demonstrate their support for the Society and the fight against cancer as well as the importance of eating right and exercise. Fans are encouraged to wear sneakers to games to demonstrate their support.
LAST GAME: Bulldogs Cruise Past Huskies, 81-63
Freshman guard Mychal Ladd's first career double-double catapulted Fresno State to an 81-63 non-conference victory over the Houston Baptist Huskies on Wednesday night in the Save Mart Center. Ladd set career highs with his 22 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman point guard Bryce Cartwright added 13 points and eight assists for Fresno State, which had five players score in double figures.
