FRESNO, Calif. -
After over a month of rigorous Christmas training, the Fresno State Bulldogs return to action Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, on the campus of UC Davis to face the Aggies and WAC powerhouse San Jose State at 1 p.m. PT at Shaal Aquatics Center.
The Bulldogs are 0-4 entering this weekend's meet, following a second place finish at the Cal Poly Invitational in early December. Host team UC Davis is 6-7 overall following a fair finish at the Husky Invitational in Washington, while WAC foe San Jose State is 10-1, recently earning its tenth consecutive dual meet win against Cal State Bakersfield on Jan. 3.
"It will be really great getting back into the meets this weekend and to see how all the hard work has paid off," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "I think some of the team will be surprised how fast they can swim, even tired."
Saturday's meet is the second of four meetings between the `Dogs and the Spartans. Fresno State first met with San Jose State along with UC Santa Cruz in its season opener Oct. 18 and will meet again Feb. 7 before a final match at the WAC Championships Feb. 25-28, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas.
The meet will follow a standard 16-event format, starting with the 200 medley relay and ending with the 400 freestyle relay and will begin at 1 p.m.
Divers return to the boards after two months on Saturday following a number of best marks at San Diego State Nov. 1, 2008.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State swimming and diving team brings in the new year Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 on the campus of UC Davis against the Aggies and the Spartans of San Jose State at 1 p.m.
