FRESNO, Calif. - Santa Clara Up Next Fresno State's final meet before the WAC Championships will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, in the form of the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara. This is the second year the Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season in Santa Clara, Calif. The women will run a 5K while the men will take on the 8K on a course described as "low cut grass and hard packed dirt paths." The women's invitational will shoot off at 9:45 a.m. and the men's invitational will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Looking Forward The Bulldogs are rounding the corner to the end of the regular season. Only one race stands between Fresno State and the WAC Championships -- the Bronco Invitational. The meet will be the team's last race at the 5K and 8K distances for women and men, respectively, giving the team a good measure of their standing going in to the WAC Championships, held at the same distance. In 2008, Erick Garcia had great success at the Bronco Invitational, winning the 10K individual title, his second for the season. Garcia was joined by Frank Sanders and Eric Battles in the Top 25, leading the team to sixth place. On the women's side, Jennifer Hernandez, Marissa McPhail and Jocelyn Oviedo all set then-career-best 5K marks at the Santa Clara Invitational.
