FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's lacrosse team isn't wasting any time bringing back former players as the team played its first-ever alumni on Sunday afternoon. While the 2009-10 Bulldog team defeated the Alumni, the purpose of the game was to reunite the past with the present.
"We had a great turn out for our first ever fall alumni game," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said. "It was nice to see all of the seniors from last year and the players that came back to play that were a part of the inaugural team. Several parents and supporters came to the game. It meant a lot to have so many great folks behind us. This is a great accomplishment for our program. I am so glad our current team had the opportunity to meet the student-athletes that helped us make history in our inaugural season. I am so excited to see the growth of our program and this fall alumni event for years to come. This was a great way to kick off our next two Sunday's on the road at Cal and UC Davis."
Participating in the event from the inaugural team was Aja Scheuber, Lorileigh Chung, Stefani Jerifcoff, Andrea Alires and Molly Sovacool. Marshai Iverson, Christina Cabias, Kohl Berry, Lindsey Voytilla and Whitney Yano are not playing this year but they also participated in the event.
The Bulldogs have exhibition contests on Sunday at Cal when they play Stanford, Cal, UC Davis and Saint Mary's. On October 25 they will play in a fall tournament at UC Davis.
"We Are Your Team" - San Jose State will be at Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, October 17 for Homecoming. The Community Food Bank along with the Bulldog Pantry will be hosting a canned food drive so bring canned food to help feed the Central Valley's hungry. Tickets can be purchased at the Bulldog Ticket Office, by calling 278-DOGS or online at GoBulldogs.com.
