FRESNO, Calif. - Bulldog Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder for Fresno State Athletics and a property of Learfield Sports, announced today that KOTR-TV in Monterey has been added to the Bulldog Sports Network.
With the addition of KOTR-TV, Bulldog fans can now watch Fresno State athletic events from as far South as Bakersfield to as far as the Bay Area. Bulldog Sports Network is one of the largest in house TV productions for college athletics.
"One of the goals of the Bulldog Sports Network is to increase our coverage area, not only in California but across the nation," Fresno State associate athletics' director Paul Ladwig said. "The addition of KOTR-TV does exactly that, in adding viewers on the central coast. Adding this piece of the broadcast pie continues to help us promote and enhance Fresno State Athletics. We thank Learfield Sports for their support in this project and welcome aboard our newest affiliate. "
KOTR-TV can be seen on Comcast cable channel 11 in the Monterey and Salinas markets and on Comcast digital channel 187 in Santa Cruz.
"My11 is pumped up to carry Bulldog Football on the Coast," KOTR General Sales Manager Randy Rogers said. "There are legions of alumni and a solid fan base here for Fresno State. Bulldog Sports are a great fit for My11 and we love their brand of hard-nosed take on any opponent attitude."
The first Bulldog Sports Network broadcast is Saturday, October 10, when the Bulldogs play at the University Hawai'i. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. This is the first of four games set to be broadcast on BSN as games at New Mexico State, Idaho and Nevada will also be carried. Games in the Fresno and Bakersfield will continued to be carried on KAIL Channel 53 (Comcast Cable Channel 14).
For the 25th year, the game will be called by Ralph Wood and Randy Rosenbloom. Wood and Rosenbloom have been doing TV for the Bulldogs since 1981. Joining the broadcast team this year is 1430 ESPN Radio personality Guy Haberman. Haberman is no stranger to Fresno State Athletics as he has been the voice of Fresno State women's basketball and softball on 1430 and has called many Bulldog games on Fresno's local Comcast station.
Most BSN games will be carried on Comcast SportsNet, meaning anybody with the expanded Comcast sports package will be able to see the Bulldogs play anywhere in the country with Direct TV or the Dish.
Along with the local broadcasts the Bulldogs have had three national television games with contests at Wisconsin and No. 10 Cincinnati and home against No. 5 Boise State. The home game in Bulldog Stadium with the Broncos was the second most watched Friday night college football since ESPN started broadcasting Friday night college football.
Fresno State has played 64 nationally televised games since 2000. At one stretch since late in the 2007 season, the Dogs made eight straight appearances on ESPN networks. Including the Boise State game, the Bulldogs will have played 15 of their last 20 games on ESPN's family of networks (ESPN, ABC, ESPN 2 and ESPN Regional)
Last week's game at Cincinnati was broadcasted on ESPN Regional Television and was seen in 37 markets around the country.
