FRESNO, Calif. - Bulldog student-athletes spent their lunch hour Tuesday meeting with fellow students in the free speech area on campus, creating awareness for a big weekend of Fresno State sports.
Members of the Bulldog football and volleyball teams, along with TimeOut and members of the cheer squad created a mini-rally on campus near the Student Union, chatting with students, faculty and staff members.
On Thursday, the Bulldog volleyball squad will host its biggest match of the season when the nation's No. 3-ranked team Hawaii comes to the Save Mart Center. Students have free admission to the game and any Fresno resident can get in for just $2.
The game with the rival Rainbow Wahine will be televised live on ESPNU, the first-ever home match on national TV. Fresno State distributed 250 tickets to students during today's event.
The Bulldog marketing department will have plenty to give away at the match, including pizzas, 100-pairs of flip flops and one lucky fan will win a 42-inch plasma TV.
The 200-member Bulldog marching band will be in full force at the Save Mart Center for the game which begins at 8:30 p.m.
The Bulldog football team returns home after an impressive win 34-3 win over New Mexico State. The Dogs are riding a three-game winning streak and the powerful legs of NCAA rushing leader and Heisman Trophy Candidate Ryan Mathews.
