FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State freshman Stacey Luke was named Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference diver of the week.
"I'm really proud of her," said head diving coach Taryn Patrick. "She works really hard in practice and it's starting to show. I expect better things out of her throughout the year and I think she is going to do great things this year and in her years to come."
Luke, from Kenmore, Wash. (Inglemoor HS), took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in the Bulldogs' 182-77 victory over Fresno Pacific last Friday. Luke scored a season-best 250.20 points on the 1-meter board and 249.00 points on the 3-meter. Her 1-meter score was 30 points better than any Fresno State diver's since the program's return last year. The dual meet win for the Bulldogs was also the first for Fresno State since the program was reinstated.
Idaho's Treasa Ring was named the WAC swimmer of the week.
"We Are Your Team!" - The Bulldog women's swimming and diving team returns to the water next Friday in the "Biggest Little City in the World" when Fresno State meets the Nevada Wolf Pack in Reno, Nev. For the latest Bulldog information, continue visiting www.gobulldogs.com.
