FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs head to Reno, Nev., this week where they will face off against the Nevada Wolf Pack. Coming off their first win of the season, the `Dogs look to build on the strong early season performance and carry momentum into this weeks dual meet against the defending WAC champions.
The meet takes place at 2:00 p.m. in Reno and will mark the second time this season that these two teams have seen each other, with the first being the season opening WAC Shootout. In the first dual meet of the year between the two, the Bulldogs fought hard but fell short 152-90. Fresno State looks to compete more closely this time around as the young `Dogs times are improving week in and week out.
Scouting Nevada The Wolf Pack have been extremely competitive in the past three years bringing home three consecutive swimming and diving WAC Championships. Nevada was 2-4 in the season opening WAC Shootout and has won 2 straight dual meets since, putting them at 4-4 on the year as they set to face off against Fresno State.
Luke earns WAC Diver of the Week Award Fresno State freshman diver Stacey Luke was awarded WAC Diver of the Week for her strong performance last week against Fresno Pacific. Luke, from Kenmore, Wash. (Inglemoor HS), took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in the Bulldogs' 182-77 victory over the Sunbirds last Friday. Luke scored a season-best 250.20 points on the 1-meter board and 249.00 points on the 3-meter. Luke's 1-meter score was 30 points better than any Fresno State diver's since the program's return last year.
`Dogs Capture Historic Win Against Sunbirds The Fresno State swimming and diving team brought home it's first dual meet vic¬tory of the year last week against the Fresno Pacific sunbirds with a decisive score of 182-77. Not only was this victory the first win of the year for the `Dogs but it also marks the first victory since the return of the program two years ago. The meet was also the first in which the Dogs competed within the Fresno city limits, as the event was held at Clovis North High School. Clovis North is the temporary practice facility for the Bulldogs, while the construction continues on the new aquatic center.
