Bulldogs Conclude Day One of Tournament

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The No. 14 Fresno State Bulldogs fell in the opening match in Cathedral City, Calif., in the first game of the Classic as No. 2 Florida defeated the Bulldogs 8-0 in five innings. Fresno State is now 3-2 on the season.
The Gators would strike early as they got a two run home run to left center by Francesca Enea off of Fresno State All-American Morgan Melloh in the top of the first.
Melloh would strike out eight in the game and drop her first game of the year falling to 2-1 in the circle.
The Bulldogs would have an opportunity to get to Florida pitcher Stephanie Brombacher in the first with back-to-back singles by Haley Perkins and Haley Gilleland.
Florida would add a run in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead.
With two outs in the top of the fifth, Florida would add five more runs to take the 8-0 lead.
Florida improves to 9-1 on the season and Brombacher is 5-0.
The Bulldogs take on Maryland at 3:30 p.m. at the Cathedral City Classic.
