Play Concludes at Judi Garman Classic

WALNUT, Calif. - No. 21 Fresno State concluded play in the Judi Garman Classic on Sunday playing at Mt. Sac as No. 20 DePaul defeated the `Dogs 6-1. Fresno State is 14-12 on the season.
Haley Gilleland reached on a fielder's choice and stole second. She scored on a single by Ryane Petersen as the `Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the first.
DePaul tied the game on a solo home run in the second by Jackie Tarulli-Fisher.
A solo shot by Marla Matthews to left field in the top of the fifth extended DePaul's lead to 2-1.
Bulldog starter Morgan Melloh was replaced in the top of the fifth with two on. She allowed three runs on four hits while striking out eight. Melloh is now 10-9 in the circle on the season.
Mackenzie Oakes entered in the circle as she allowed two runs on four hits in the fifth as DePaul jumped to a 6-1 lead.
The `Dogs had four hits off of DePaul pitcher Lindsay Dean,, two by Lisamarie Coronado.
Fresno State returns to Bulldog Diamond to open WAC play vs. San Jose State on Friday at 6 p.m.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The `Dogs' open WAC play against San Jose State Friday and Saturday. The `Dogs and Spartans play two Friday night starting at 6 pm and close out the series Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. Friday night is Domestic Violence Awareness Night and Saturday is Youth Day.
