FRESNO, Calif. - It's now a season-high six wins in a row at home for the No. 25 Fresno State softball team including three in Western Athletic Conference play as the `Dogs shutout San Jose State 2-0 and 1-0 in the final games of the three-game series at Bulldog Diamond on Saturday. Fresno State improves to 17-12 on the season and 3-0 in WAC play.
"It's hard to win three-straight in this conference so this is huge for us," said senior Haley Perkins.
Game One
With her third strikeout of the game vs. Mallory Blair in the top of the second, Bulldog pitcher Morgan Melloh tied Terry Carpenter for fifth all-time on the strikeout list with 644. Melloh ended with 11 in the game while picking up her 12th win of the season and another shutout in the 2-0 victory and a one-hitter. It was the 11th time this season Melloh has struck out at least 10 batters.
The `Dogs scored one run in each the second and fifth innings. The run in the second came after Brooke Phipps hit a grounder to the Spartan shortstop but an error allowed all runners to be safe and Lisamarie Coronado scored. Coronado reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning and the first hit of the game was a single down the left field line by Ryane Petersen.
The second run came when Phipps singled to lead off the fifth. A single up the middle by Perkins sent Phipps home for a 2-0 lead.

The lone ran came in the bottom of the fifth. Angene led off the inning with a single. Jody Badorine entered to pinch run for her and a sacrifice bunt by Phipps advanced her to second.
