Bulldogs Play Oregon at MPSF Tourney

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State is preparing for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament at the University of Stanford, April 23-26. The Bulldogs have the No. 7 seed and play No. 2 seed Oregon on Thursday at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs lost 20-0 in Eugene on March 6 to the Ducks.
If You Add It They Will Come
Lacrosse is catching on in the Central Valley and fans are coming to Bulldog Stadium to support the Bulldogs in their inaugural season. Fresno State leads the MPSF in attendance with an average of 575 fans a game in their three home games. Denver averaged 247 fans in six home games and Oregon averaged 241 fans in seven home games.
Continued Improvement
Coming into the inaugural season for the Bulldog women's lacrosse team, most the team had never played the sport before. As the season has progressed the Bulldogs have continued to improve in various statistical categories. The `Dogs are fifth in draw controls/face off percentages and caused turnovers per game. Fresno State is currently forcing 7.46 turnovers a contest. The Bulldogs are sixth in groundballs and saves per game.
Coach Speaks on the MPSF Tournament
"We are excited to play in the MPSF Championships against Oregon in the first round. It will be another great learning experience for the player's. We have come so far this season and this will be another great test for us. Championship time is a new season. The best part of championships for us is that we have 13 games of lacrosse experience under our belts. We have everything to gain and nothing to lose...it is a win-win. We are playing to win!"
Jack of All Trades
Heather Jack scored five goals against Presbyterian College and leads the team with 10 goals after scoring a goal at Howard. She has played and started in all 13 games this year. Nine of her goals have come in the last eight games.
Starting Strong
Since Emily Erwin has been inserted into the starting lineup eight games ago, she has scored seven goals and dished out one assist. April 13th's game against Denver was the first time she hadn't scored since being inserted into the starting lineup.
First Game vs. Cal = Program Firsts
- Molly Sovacool won the first ever draw control to open the Feb. 7 game.
- Diana Aguilar had the first ever save for a goalie on a shot taken by Alyse Kennedy a minute into the game.
- The first Fresno State shot was taken by Heather Jack at the 27:59 mark of the first half.
- The first Fresno State substitution was Christina Cabias six minutes into the first half.
- The attendance for the first ever lacrosse home game was 928.
More Season Firsts
- Heather Jack scored the first ever goal in Bulldog Stadium in Saturday's game against Saint Mary's. The goal came at the 22:59 mark of the first half.
- Heather Jack scored the Bulldogs' first-ever goal against Stanford with 4:21 left in the game.
- For the first time this season, the Bulldogs scored more than one goal in a game against UC Davis.
National Powers
Stanford is ranked No. 16 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Top 20 media poll. Oregon was ranked No. 18 but is now receiving votes at No. 22.
