Bulldogs Play Four Games in Seven Days

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's lacrosse team is set to begin a stretch where they play four games in seven days. Beginning Tuesday, the Bulldogs play three games on the East coast before returning to Bulldog Stadium on Monday, April 13 for a Noon contest against Denver.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs play at St. Bonaventure at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. The game is going to be played at Alfred State since the field at St. Bonaventure is unplayable due to various winter storms. The Bulldogs then play at Johns Hopkins on Thursday April 9 at 1 p.m. before heading to the nations capital for a 7 a.m. Pacific Time contest against Howard University.
Scouting St. Bonaventure
St. Bonaventure is 5-7 and led by the play of Molly Hastrick who has scored 38 goals and recorded nine assists. Christine Hanley has 34 goals and 10 assists. As a team, St. Bonaventure is averaging 13 goals a game.
Scouting Johns Hopkins
Johns Hopkins is 4-8 and averaging 10 goals a game. Candace Rossi leads the team in goals scored with 23 while Brett Bathras has team-best nine assists.
Scouting Howard
Like Fresno State, Howard is 0-9 and looking for its first win of the season. Sakita Holley leads Bison with 30 goals.
Continued Improvement
For the second straight game the Bulldogs allowed a season-low in goals in the first half. After allowing seven goals against Presbyterian, the Bulldogs allowed only six against Saint Mary's on Saturday.
Jack of All Trades
Heather Jack scored five goals last Sunday against Presbyterian College and she now leads the team with eight goals after scoring a goal against Saint Mary's. She has played and started in all nine games this year. Seven of her goals have come in the last three games.
Starting Strong
Since Emily Erwin has been inserted into the starting lineup four games ago she has recorded four goals and one assist. Her first goal of her career came against Cincinnati on March 18.
Senior Day
Saturday's contest against Saint Mary's was Senior Day for the Bulldogs. Andrea Alires, Chelsea Davis, Aja Scheuber, Kristin Hoska, Stefani Jericoff, Lorileigh Chung and Molly Sovacool were honored prior to the start of the game. All seven seniors have played an intrical part in the Bulldogs building the women's lacrosse program.
First Game vs. Cal = Program Firsts
- Molly Sovacool won the first ever draw control to open the Feb. 7 game.
- Diana Aguilar had the first ever save for a goalie on a shot taken by Alyse Kennedy a minute into the game.
- The first Fresno State shot was taken by Heather Jack at the 27:59 mark of the first half.
- The first Fresno State substitution was Christina Cabias six minutes into the first half.
- The attendance for the first ever lacrosse home game was 928.
More Season Firsts
- Heather Jack scored the first ever goal in Bulldog Stadium in Saturday's game against Saint Mary's. The goal came at the 22:59 mark of the first half.
- Heather Jack scored the Bulldogs' first-ever goal against Stanford with 4:21 left in the game.
- For the first time this season, the Bulldogs scored more than one goal in a game against UC Davis.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The `Dogs travel to St. Bonaventure Tuesday, April 7 for a 11 a.m. game. The `Dogs return to Bulldog Stadium to host Denver Monday, April 13 at 12 pm.
