Hoops Summer Camp a Soaring Success

FRESNO, Calif. - The joy of summer beamed down on campus last week as roughly 100 youngsters enjoyed the annual fun and action-packed basketball summer camp.
"It is an honor and joy to work with the kids on enjoying the game of basketball," camp director and assistant coach Lee Moon said. "We always look forward to this week and I know our team had fun teaching the game during the camp."
The week started each day at 9 a.m. as the focus remained on the basics combined with detailed instruction on making smart passes, the art of efficiently grabbing rebounds and taking good shots and a host of other drills and competitions in an exciting environment.
Camp counselors, like Fresno State sophomore guard/forward Paul George, viewed the week as an opportunity to give back and teach the basketball knowledge he has picked up over the years.
"It was a great week," George said. "We are very competitive and our goal is to make sure everyone loves the game of basketball. "
"I want to thank all the families and friends of our participants for giving us the opportunity to spend time playing basketball with their kids," Moon added.
The camp was held in Fresno State's North Gym from June 22-26, 2009.
The Bulldogs will open their 2009-10 campaign this November and start the run for the program's fifth NCAA appearance.
