FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State lacrosse team has teamed up with the No. 1 lacrosse equipment company in the nation in deBeer Lacrosse. DeBeer currently works with 20 women's collegiate lacrosse programs and Fresno State is only the second school in the state of California to be sponsored by deBeer.
"For a second year program this is a fantastic opportunity," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said. "We are excited to team up with one of the premier lacrosse equipment companies in the country."|
With the sponsorship, the Bulldogs will receive equipment such as lacrosse goggles, goalie sticks, gloves, helmets and protective equipment along with balls, lacrosse heads, lacrosse handles, ball bags and coaches gear.
DeBeer also has the ability to assist in donating equipment to cities that are trying to start lacrosse. Recently deBeer donated $134,000 worth of equipment to start six girls and eight boys' lacrosse teams in New Orleans. They have also founded club teams in New York City, Boston, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.
Lacrosse continues to grow in the Central Valley as the Fresno Unified School District has added the sport since it was announced Fresno State was bringing on women's lacrosse. During the season the Bulldogs held free lacrosse clinics for the community and by January and February as many as 200 young campers were attending the clinic.
DeBeer marketing specialist Jacqueline McDevitt said that is one of the things that attracted debeer to Fresno State.
