FRESNO, Calif. - The academic success of the Fresno State women's lacrosse team continues to get recognized as the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association named the Bulldogs as one of 49 institutions that earned Academic Squad honors, including three that have been named Merit Squads.
Teams that have a collective GPA of 3.0 or greater earn the distinction of Academic Squad; the squads with the three highest team GPAs earned the honor of being named a Merit Squad. Wagner led all schools with a team GPA of 3.53 and was named a Merit Squad, as were Stanford and Hofstra.
Fresno State was solid in the classroom as they had a team GPA of 3.278 and 18 of 23 student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or higher. In June, coach Sue Behme had 11 student-athletes earn Mountain Pacific Academic honors with Lorileigh Chung leading the way with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
"I am extremely proud of the work our team did in the classroom this year," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said. "This team represents Fresno State with pure class on the field and in their field of academic studies."
