With Fresno State's 87-77 victory over the Nevada, the Bulldogs improved to 4-3 in conference play and moved into a three-way tie with the Wolf Pack and the San Jose State Spartans for fourth-place in the WAC.
Greg Smith recorded game-highs with 25 points and 11 rebounds, and added five assists (all career-highs for the freshman). He now has a team-high four double-doubles on the season. This was his fourth game with 20 or more points and 14th game of the season with at least 10 points.
Sylvester Seay scored 12 points to become the 44th highest scorer in Bulldog history with 851 points. In his two-year playing career at Fresno State and two prior seasons at Arizona State, Seay has netted 1,012 career points.
Mike Ladd drained four 3-pointers, the seventh time this season with at least four. In conference play, Ladd averages 3.1 triples per contest.
With Greg Smith's two opening free throws to start the game, Fresno State scored first for the 10th time this season. The Bulldogs upped their tally to 6-4 when getting the first points of a game.
Fresno State led 42-39 at halftime. On the year, the Bulldogs are now 8-2 in games when they are leading at halftime.
Brandon Sperling earned his 21st start of his Bulldog career, his first at small forward, in place of injured sophomore Paul George.
Paul George, who suffered a right ankle sprain in Thursday night's contest against Utah State, missed his first game. George, Fresno State's leading scorer, rebounder and steals, had been the only Bulldog to start all 54 games during the past two seasons.
